Powers of Ten will be shown during a Winter Dreams concert.

On December 1, 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica the Eames film Powers of Ten will be shown during a concert of Philip Glass’s Einstein on the Beach. The concert is titled Winter Dreams and is organized by Jacaranda.

The themes of the opera center around the conjunction between the every-day and the universal—as exemplified in the scientist’s life and work. The film Powers of Ten ranges from the human scale to both the cosmic and the infinitesimal and is in perfect synchrony with the themes expressed in the music.

Eames Office at PS ARTs Express Yourself Fundraiser

For the 8th year the Eames Office happily participated in the PS Arts Express Yourself fundraiser. PS Arts is a non-profits organization that partners with underserved public schools to provide students with a high-quality education in music, theater and/or visual arts. Every year at PS Arts our booth features the Eames Medium Blank House of Cards and a theme to inspire our participants. The children and adults draw on the cards and add them to our House of Cards structure. Each year we bring back the cards from pasts years and build a large building with them. Children always look for their cards from previous years amazed to see what they drew when they were younger. This years theme was scale, featuring the different size house of cards, the Eames film The Powers of Ten and full size and miniature size Eames furniture. We always have a wonderful time at the PS ARTs event and are thrilled to help support such a wonderful cause.
