This image, “Eucalyptus,” is the second in a series of four film stills featured at the 2021 Isetan exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The stills originate from the 1955 film, “House: After Five Years of Living,” which illustrated details of Charles and Ray Eames’ Case Study House through an experimental method of turning still images into moving film.
The Eucalyptus tree featured in this image is one of many that line the front of the Eames House. These trees have been, and still are, beloved by many for the shade and shadows they provide to the Eames House and for the way they adorn the walkway with their leaves. As the trees have aged, conservation efforts have necessitated the removal of a select few which have been given new life by way of recent collaborations. This includes a limited edition run of carved Eucalyptus skateboard decks manufactured by Globe for the Isetan exhibition and a limited run of Eucalyptus topped LTR. This image is a testament to the love the Eameses had for the simple but mighty tree.
This image is now being released for the first time as a print for public purchase. Limited run of 100 numbered copies with Certificates of Authenticity.
Photograph is printed on 100% Cotton Rag, matted, dust sealed and framed with a thin, black, metal Neilsen frame.
